    Default Chanterelles

Anyone finding any yet? I've covered miles of ground in our National Forest in the Enoree district, places where I found 100's of them delicious things last June. In total I've found 1 the size of a quarter and 2 buttons nearby. There aren't even many non-edible mushrooms growing right now.

This heat and lack of rain in the upstate has been bad for mushroom growth. We got some rain today and are forecasted for more next week but I'm not sure it'll be enough. Maybe the lower part of the state has been better?

I'm craving some sautéed chanterelles on top of a medium rare deer steak!

one year ago to today.. I hit a patch pretty good. I went looking through and checking my images knowing it was soon. My main place is barren as of today at lunch, hopefully if we get some rain in the next day or two they'll pop.

Same with me. I hit the same spots that a year ago this week were absolutely loaded and they are empty. Maybe this weekend it'll be good if we get enough rain this week.

None here. On the upside I will be enjoying some huitlacoche tacos this weekend.

Sundays. Y’all have to look on Sundays. All the hunters aren’t in the public woods hence mushrooms grow better then.

I don't really do anything public. If I wanted to go see public people I'd go on a cruise ship or walk into a Walmart.

Dangit, when SC ventures out of the 1700's and allows hunting 7 days a week on WMAs we're going to lose mushrooms in addition to all the game animals? Bummer.

It seems I don’t see em usually til about mid-late July around the upper lake.

Charleston and Berkeley counties see em earlier for some reason.

Looked this past weekend in the same place I picked them the last two years and not the first sign of any. Hope it rains enough this week to get them started

None on my place yet but I usually don’t see them pop up until early July.

The rain finally brought them out at my usual honey hole.

Good stuff! I finally found a handful on Saturday in one of my honey holes. Enough to saute and all of us had a few bites.

Noticed little pins in a lot of areas too so I'm guess by this weekend it should be pretty full. Then I can get a basket full.

I didn't see anything Saturday, but I plan on checking again in a few hours. I'd think with all of the moisture.
