    Default Best bottom bait for?

    Going offshore Monday, I hope.

After trolling for the spread out dolphin I plan to bottom fish.

Any tips? I have the state reef points but that is all.

Anchoring will allow you to catch better fish.

    Bigger bait = bigger fish.

One day when I have time, I’m going out there with a bucket full of live crabs and I’m gonna catch a hogfish!

Box of squid and any other bait you can catch. Throw a live bait and float it while you jerking the bottom. Caught some big dolphin like that

Squid strips, not whole squid, much tougher. Menhaden or greenbacks for live. Get a box of Spanish sardines, Scamp love them. Slow pitch 80-100g jigs tipped with a small bit of squid are money.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Sabiki rig some live bait or buy a box of cigar minnows and cut em in half.
I catch most our grouper on the front half of a cigar minnow.

Spanish sardines> Cigars. We’ve done the taste test many times.

We picked at them yesterday. Found a large school with a couple of decent fish in it that weren’t hungry. We were able to pull a few off of it, but should have doubled our haul. Better than expected for this time of year and it was a beautiful ocean.

I like your fish cleaning station. Looks kind of tight, but I need to do something similar. More pics?

It’s my buddies. Built out of 1 sheet of the marine star board. Couple of fans, couple of water hoses, roof, and built on tilt to the back left corner where he had a drain that runs to the corner of the yard into a “septic” tank. It’s pretty practical. We unload fish into a wheel barrel and head over. Fish start getting cleaned before the boat is fully unloaded. He mounted an electric pressure washer next to we’re the boat is parked. So once we back in we can knock shit out fast.
