I rewired mine and it rides like a dream, dry too.
The Sea Pro SV2100 hull has been copied by several companies and still being produced including Bulls Bay.
Oh, and I am not obsessed with them by any means, i stole the one in the pic from an estate sale.
Had been indoor stored for years and hardly ever used.

I've owned three Key West boats - a 1520 EX, a 2020 WA and, now, a 189 DC. The build and ride quality are great. All three will wet you on a stiff crosswind but they're better than most. The two complaints are the factory wiring sucks and all three let water in the back of the boat. But, I had the max HP on all three boats too. I actually put plugs in the drain holes on the 1520 and 2020 when I was inshore. Outside of the breakers, the wave action allowed the drain holes to "breathe" so water doesn't build up in the passenger compartment. The 189DC is a different story. The drain ports are through corrugated piping with a drain cover so there's nowhere to put a plug and block the hole. Putting a heavy trolling motor on the front and two batteries in the passenger console helped a lot but I still don't understand how these boat manufacturers still have the floor of the inner hull lower than the expected waterline.

Best thing I ever did with the 2020 and 189 was rip out and redo the wiring. It looks cleaner, I'm sure it'll be less problematic and if something does go wrong, I'll know exactly where everything is so it should be easier to fix.

That good looking boat. It sits in the water like my old skeeter did. 8' drop to the water from the bow and 6" from the stern.

In the bay boat category take a look at the 234 Sportsman. I have run my 214 in Winyah Bay in 20knt blows a couple of times and was extremely impressed, the folks have got bull bottoms figured out. If I spent more time out of the inlet the 234 would be my choice.

Thinking you haven’t seen 20 kts in Winyah Bay if you were impressed with a 214. Unless it was at your back going with the tide….or impressed equals you didn’t die?

I hate winyah, had many a “you’re an idiot” moments running my skiff across it.

Get an older boat with reliable power. Get as few features to maintain on it as possible. Enjoy being out there with the family.

Get a bay boat....anything from a 22'-24'...that's a perfect size for down there....Tons of good fishing in that area.

    I got a 240 bay Scout with a F250 Yamaha.

With a light load, jack plate and trim right will touch 60. Comfortable 45mph boat.

When is the cost between Key West, Seahunt or Sportsman level bay boat and say a Contender level bay boat worth the difference? Completely understand if you make a living off boat
