    Default Coopers Hawk

My son has a few acres by Vista, Ca. Last week his German Shepherd came running up to him all excited and took him to a baby hawk that had fallen out of its nest. He built a box/nest for it and put it in the back of his pickup so the coyotes and bobcats couldn't get to it and parked it under the tree with the nest. He mounted a video camera above the truck. Mom has been catching smaller birds to feed it. My son brought it a squirrel one day and they tore it up. It's almost 2 weeks old now.

If they like squirrels, you should ship it to DC. Jake will have that thing the size of Big Bird in a couple weeks.

    Very cool.

If Cooper's Hawks were vegan, we'd have a lot more quail and a lot more doves to shoot...

When I was a kid, I found one that had been shot.

    Wing was kind of mangled.

Bandaged him up, and kept him on the back porch. I'd feed him squirrels and birds I shot out of the yard. He healed up good enough to release. Never saw him again. Kind of hoped he'd stick around.

I have a friend that volunteers for the raptor center and occasionally they will release an owl or hawk at my property. They must not stick around because I still have a squirrel infestation.

    Sweet picture RH, as usual.

I have one that hangs around my quail in the backyard. He’s pretty frequent and fun to watch him try to figure out how to get in. One time I came outside to the quail making a raucous, and he was about eye to eye with them on the ground trying to get in the cage. That was cool.

Sounds about like duck hunters that don't eat ducks.

Do birds have rights? No doubt you'd say no. Then how can they act immoraly?
