    DC,

I have a ‘05 2500HD with the Duramax engine and 385,000 miles. I have always changed the fuel filter every 10,000 miles and run Diesel Kleen in every other fill up. I plan on 500K or more out of it.

I hope to get that out of this one, I’ll start with the diesel kleen today

For the folks that know...how does Hot Shot EDT compare to Diesel Kleen? Ran a 2014 Ecodiesel for 165,000 miles and just got a 2022 version. Currently have been using EDT but have no problem switching if Diesel Kleen is that much better...

Almost dumb question… is Diesel Kleen, or something similar, something I should be adding to a diesel 25 hp tractor with 950 hours on it? I did stop using off-road diesel several years back because it seemed to clog up the fuel filter much faster than clean diesel, for what it’s worth.

For 3k more I'd just replace the engine. Had to replace my 6.7 three years ago due to a dropped exhaust valve. Cost 12k back then. Got a price of 15k now to replace. It's in a tow truck and with a new truck running over 100k. I'll just keep repairing what I have. 461000 miles showing.

What ratio are y’all running on the diesel kleen?
    1oz per 3 gallon?

New engine won’t do you any good with all the fuel components. They don’t offer a drop in 6.7 with new injectors, fuel rails, etc at the moment.

Close enough. Don’t over think it. Your truck doesn’t even have a CP4 pump. Diesel Kleen for me and my recommendation is for lubricating the CP4.

Keeping your fuel filter changed will keep injectors healthy.

I was thinking it was 1/2 oz per gallon. Have to look. I run it every tank in my 05 Duramax

Happy diesel. There are only a few additives I personally approve. Diesel Kleen happens to be one. Everyone else knows my next job is gonna be a Toyo tire rep and or Noco jump box rep.

Does Diesel Kleen add lubricity? My understanding of pump failure with newer fuels is that the process of removing sulfur also removes some of the natural lubricating qualities of diesel fuel. I thought Diesel Kleen was more to prevent algae buildup, especially in low use vehicles where the fuel sits longer.
I added a pint of Marvel to a tank at fillup, that was about the time they switched from LSD to ULSD, so that tells you how long it's been since I ran a diesel.

Grey bottle lubricates. Hence one of the only reasons I promote it.

Sucks owning a diesel with all the current upkeep.

I certainly wouldn't own one post-'07. Really the 7.3 p/s and 12v Cummins is about all I would entertain. EPA changed the industry in a huge way.

I don’t know. I bought a 7.3 gas with 4.30 gears in hopes of finally buying the family a camper. Using it as a DD 95 miles a day and 13.5mpg is making me second guess my engine choice. I wanted no cp4,DPF,EGR,etc. keep telling myself it’s a matter of when not if a diesel would cost me some coin.

Ironically with the latest economic outlook, I don’t think I will making and major purchases for a long while.

2021 Cummins went back to CP3. They are having a recall on the 2019 and 2020 that ran CP4 briefly.

You’re still way ahead of the curve ove a diesel. It’d take you 300k miles on a diesel without a major repair to break even on the 7.3L on fuel mileage and routine maintenance. Throw in one major repair and you’re on the losing side again.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Grainger Ford in IA sells them 3% under invoice all day from what I understand. Buy it, fly out there and drive it back. Still way ahead of these local idiots.
