I was looking for the a hash recipe yesterday. I spoke with a lady who makes it every July 4th. I told her I had some deer meat I needed to use and wanted to try hash.

She said she uses 6 pounds of beef(roast) and 6 pounds of Boston butt and 12 pounds of onions along with about a pound of butter and spices.
I didn't get all the details, so if anyone on here has one please share.

You ain't makin' good hash without hearts, livers, tongues etc. Lots of recipes out there, but very few good ones. I don't like any type of beef in my hash... except maybe some of those innards I mentioned above. It's been YEARS since I've stood around a puddin' pot and made hash and scrapple. Used to be some fun times.

most good hash recipes are hard to read bc the ink on the napkin has blurred over the years.

If that's what good hash has in it then I'm okay with eatin' bad hash.

I've never had a "beef" hash that I thought was good. The flavor just ain't right in my opinion.
