    Heavy rainwear can be welcome in the cool months but you'd be better off not wearing it at all on warmer days since you'd sweat as much as you'd get wet. I'd look for some relatively lightweight rainwear and layer underneath if need be.

    Thanks to JAB’s mentioning of the REI stuff last week I picked up an REI Gore-Tex jacket and pants today for just over $200 combined. It may be worth trying that route for your son even if he grows out of it quickly. You should be able to sell both pieces and get most of your money back.
