    Fly by wire failure?

I see those boats running 80 mph and give them wide berth on the MS river, just in case.
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

I’ve been waiting to see pics of it out of the water and hear a full report.

What happened? Was there some sort of steering failure or what?

Okay. So did the power go out? And by power, I mean response to the throttles. Cause if not, that boat was completely stoppable and steerable right up until it hit the rocks. Completely.

Fly by wire failures are few and far between, been out for many years and
the use same style servo motors that are in fly by wire fighter jets and airliners for the last 15 years.
More dependable and less maintenance than throttle and shift cables.

If just the steering went out. They should have been able to drive/steer using just the forward and reverse on the motors to at least get them out of harms way. If they didn’t panic and acted in time. My guess is engines shut off or wouldn’t shift properly.

What most people don’t understand is that literal crack/meth heads build these boats. It’s a who can we pay the least to do a somewhat acceptable job… And before you say anything, I was an employee at this place for a short time…

There have been a couple now that have lost steering, I know of two while I was working there that were due to connections on the breakers not being tightened. That’s the deal with the EPS, if it looses power, you loose steering…

Unfortunately it’s become a quantity over quality situation, and I was very surprised at some of the stuff that made it out that door..

I don’t know if it would have held in that inlet but I would have been chucking that anchor as far as possible and trying to pull to it immediately. Then same thing again to get farther away from the rocks. Used anchor more than once to get unstuck from a fuck up, in the marsh and river though.

You can see him backing it down pretty hard, but the blades are turned towards the rocks. Steering had to go out.

I wouldn't say that. I've seen mine lose connection at the dock and got an alert on the garmin console. Hard powered off and back on. Haven't seen it happen since.
