Yes, they survived and produced but they never caught up with the healthier ones. From what I can see in the photo, I wouldn't replant yours if they don't get any worse. There are much, much better people on here for advice. I'm just a struggling hobby farmer.

Ones we planted just before the rain seemed like the sprouted well. So far seems the seed germinated like it was suppose to.
“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

I've got some bare patches in my field but I can't blame it on germination pricisely because it is in patches. Poor germination would be consistently distributed throughout the field. My problems must have been soil moisture and/or planting depth or some other localized difference. I had to settle for size 4 seeds that are very small for my planter with fingers pickup. That could explain some of the patches but some are across several rows in the same area.

10% or less are up. Planted 4 weeks ago. Of those up, some are healthy and 10” tall, others are 2” tall and I saw a few just breaking through the soil. The Sicklepod crop is outstanding. It was exceedingly dry for weeks prior to planting and did not rain until 2 weeks after planting. Our pre-emergent cocktail did not get the required rain and it was not effective.

The field will be plowed under and replanted with millet. I may plant some WGF Sorghum if I can find the seed.

I planted a small field for the first time this year. Let’s just say I’m glad I don’t make a living farming.

Next weeks forecast doesn’t look too kind either.

Too early to be this hot and dry. Hope we get some relief soon. On the plus side, I’m not having to mow near as much which is nice with fuel prices being so high.

Ours are pretty and we have a new fence. It's the beginning of June so I'm not all worked up yet.

So, I know time is an issue and all but why do people go to the extent of planting crops in popcorn fart dry ground with no appreciable rain in the forecast?
Especially sunflowers...they do not do well with germ after being packed in for long periods anyway.
Wait for rain people or piss your money away....

Everyone in my area planted the thur before that 80% chance of rain Friday we had beginning of may. It should have been 10% chance bc that's what percentage of people got it.

We had that same 80% in GA early May but got zero. I wasted pre-emerge but glad I didn’t plant.

because lots of people dont have the luxury of waiting...and when the TV people say "100% chance of rain" you go for it.

not to mention, I really like a field to be ready a few weeks before the opener. its a fairly small window. gotta take a chance at some point.

I got rain the first couple weeks and then NONE. please tell me what I did wrong.
    meanie
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
