    Default Floundas

Good day yesterday. Caught probably 25-30+. Killed 8. Couldn’t get our last 2 keepers, but released a couple that were right on the line. Probably a good call as the game warden was poking around. Heard one fella got a $250 ticket for a 1/4” short fish.

    Nice Day!
They have been around in decent numbers lately.
Catching a few pretty ones about every Redfish/trout trip
Son #2 caught one last week on a Mirrolure that was just shy of 4lbs

Nice work! Amazing how such an ugly fish tastes so damn good. I agree with you on letting the borderline ones swim if you were putting them on ice and not in a live well. My experience is that a fish will measure 1/8-1/4” shorter after being on ice for some time.

In my younger years in Texas, my dad and grandpa took me out to the spillway in Trinity bay to catch some specks. Seemed like we caught over 100 fish, but most were short with the exception of a few. Got back to the ramp and GW measured the 4 or 5 we brought back and 3 of them were shorter than the 15” minimum. My dad was puzzled. My grandad laid them on the bow and requested the GW wait before he cited them and remeasure once they thawed out some. Sure enough after about an hour they all measured! Good lesson learned.

Good work, caught and tagged 2 17s with my almost 3yo yesterday then went looking for seashells.

There is a drop off for carcasses at Harrelson's Seafood if you are up that way.

DNR wants to study them. Otoliths etc.

    Good job finding them!

Always worth a thought that every legal flounder is a female.
