Russian nuclear doctrine openly states that they think it is acceptable to use nuclear weapons to "bring a conventional war to an end". I read that to mean "we will nuke you if we are losing"...

Don't be surprised if he uses WMD in eastern Ukraine.

If he steps it up a notch, Kiev and Lviv would be next.

PB, you changed my mind. Very good summation and I have to agree

Before that I would say I did not give a rats ass but you are correct.

The optimist would say that 40 Billion divided by 330 million Americans comes out to about $120.00 a person. What's the problem?

As much as I disliked him (actually hated the guy), Barry Soto aint looking so bad compared to Uncle Joe.

Not every person in the United States is working and paying taxes. 330 is not the correct number to base the calculation on.

We don't have 40 billion. We borrow the money and pay interest on the debt. I heard recently that just the interest on our debt will be the largest single expense we pay in the budget. I would call that incredibly irresponsible.

if for some reason they granted me a mere billion, y'all might see me once more.. on a ten second Super Bowl ad, walking down my private island's beach, in a thong.

i get what bownut is saying. I pay my taxes. I dont nitpick where they go.
But is this really "tax money" or just fake money? I really need to go back to school and take macroeconomics.

It might be worth the investment if it wiped out Russia as any sort of world power but others are correct to state that there is very little chance the money would go where it should.* There are doubtless billions of dollars for unrelated projects written into the bill and then the amount that gets squandered and misdirected by the corrupt officials over here and over there.* If it was really going to help Ukraine permanently crush Russia, not just stop their current aggression, it might be worth it.

Which brings the total since the Russian invasion to $53 Billion! That's insane! I don't like it but I don't like Russia either. Pick sides I guess. Lesser of two evils?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we fund another "war" against the Russians? Afghanistan. And didn't that one give us the Taliban, along with Bin Laden? Seems like funding another incredibly corrupt gvt. could end badly for us as well.
