    Default 50K

I know some of you could care less... but I won my first 50k today. Ran the Wambaw Swamp Stomp 50k on part of the Palmetto Trail in Francis Marion National Forest this morning. Nice little local race put on by a veteran and retired firefighter. Trail was in great shape and luckily no water to deal with. Was a little warm but not as bad as its been the past few days. This forum is pretty dead, so figured I'd share.

    Solid! Congrats.

Thanks guys. It sucked a little, but wanted to do a long trail race before it gets miserably hot out.

Average, guess that depends on the terrain. This was relatively easy trail with no hills. My only real goal was to be done before noon. Race started at 7, was done a little before 11:30. Was able to negative-split it, ran conservative the first 20-23 miles. Don't have much experience in the longer stuff.

Congratulations. I don’t like driving 50 k’s or miles or whatever it is. Can’t imagine voluntarily walking/running that long. I had to run like a son of bitch in high school, I envied the people that could make it look easy.

You won it, or finished it? Either is awesome.

Very cool! Congrats on the win, too.

I’d like to run a 50k one day. I just ain’t there yet.

I was more concerned with deer flies. They are horrible around the swamps I run near at the house. There were surprisingly no bugs on the trail that I recall. I did see two turkeys, couple squirrels, 1 rabbit, and 2 deer.
