Default First garden in a while

My daughter has always been into playing in the dirt. That turned into taken a strong liking to gardening
so far. We’ve started some okra, pole beans, cucumbers, and squash from seeds in some starter trays/cups. She has made sure to water them everyday and helped bring them in on the cold nights so far. Hopefully she continues this trend and it helps build up some responsibility traits. I told her if she keeps it up all season and helps weed and harvest I’d get her a puppy.

    Deer were my first thought.

Y’all are going to have some good times with that garden. Plenty rewarding!

How are you hitching her to it, and are you using a whip?

Double wheel hoe from hoss tools. It’s got the high arch to help go over the plants when they are still short and “hill” up around them to help with the weeds. I busted the ground up with the tiller first. This just helps with rowing and furrowing. They make different attachments for them as well. I was pretty impressed with it so far

They are definitely gonna be an issue. I’ve got a motion sensor sprinkler system mounted to tripod that I’m gonna try and use to keep them out. I’m also fooling around and trying to rig up and alarm from and old lift station to that thing to go off I hope it work

I've let the deer run rough-shod the past three years. Not having it this year.

How old is she? My 8 yr old son loves it. We finished planting everything this past Saturday. Now he gets the pleasure of shooting at birds, rabbits or whatever else decides to come through. It keeps him out of the house and puts a little money in his pocket when things start producing.

The normal stuff. Kids plant a mater patch every year now, 450 transplants for this year, maybe 6 varieties, along with a row of black cherries. 64 Cherokee Purples at their buyers request….
