    Default Quail Raising

    Anybody raise quail? Sell birds, eggs? Hatch your own?

    Just set 60 eggs yesterday. Bobwhite. Just do a few to work dogs and eat.

    I got some eggs and hatched them last year. Put them in a run and the local hawks really appreciated it.

    quail is the only critter I have raised that had a death wish. I swear they hatch just looking for a way to die.

    I've heard quail referred to as "the potatoes chips of the woods" because everything eats them.

    I've raised small batches for dog training. They are really stupid birds. If they escape, they'll usually starve if the hawks don't get them first because they don't know to eat seeds or bugs without some training.

    In bigger batches, they can have issues with disease and hundreds will die on a day or two if you aren't ready to inoculate them.

    I'm not interested in raising any critter that's more willing to die than a chicken on day 1.
