Default SCDNR wants you to know

    SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. —
South Carolina wildlife agents are issuing a warning about roadside dumping after a bald eagle died after being hit by a car.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said someone in Sumter County dumped a cooler containing fish parts of striper, catfish and bream along with plastic bottles and worm cups along a roadside.

They said a resident bald eagle was attracted to the fish parts as a quick meal.

The eagle was spooked by a passing vehicle and fatally struck the front bumper of the truck, according to SCDNR.

That guy will wait in the bushes after his truck gets stuck to catch you red handed for killing over the limit when you didn't even pull the trigger... Or something like that.

    Glorified vultures.

Fitting that they are our nations symbol since all they do is scavenge and steal kills from real predators.

I don't hate bald eagles but to put them on a pedestal is crazy. They deserve no more or less honor and respect than any other wild animal.

I see nothing wrong with a post about not dumping.

I don't see the need to issue a warning. I thought littering was illegal already.

Neither do I. But if a turkey vulture or no animal for that matter had gotten clipped you would have not seen them care about the dumping. Roll up to any WMA gate/trail head for proof.

Had one go into the car behind me on 17 one afternoon. I spooked them off a carcass. This one flew into the car and ended up in the back seat.

    Do you know why???

Because there’s always another one nearby yelling, “Car! Car! Car! Car!”
