Default Alligator snagging and saltwater reel suggestions

I'm looking for a new spinning reel and rod setup for alligator snagging and surf fishing with 90% of the use for alligators. I've been getting by over the years with zebco catfish setups and they work, but I only get one or two alligators on them before the drag wears out or the gears strip. Do y'all have a buy once, cry once suggestion that I could also use for stingrays and small sharks?

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Daiwa BG or a Spinfisher if you want to spend a little more.

I second the Penn Battles and Spinfisher. I have used them for years during alligator season. They also see a good bit of use when we want to catch an overgrown spottail.

Penn Spinfisher. We use a 6500 for alligators and all our Cape Lookout rods have the 4500 size reels on them.
