    Default Sunflower seed plates

Trying to get a new planter ready. What seed spacing is preferred for dove fields? And 16 or 24 cell plates?
Does anyone know what size seed will be available this season? Thanks

I like a 16 cell plate with 7.5” seed spacing. That gives me a population of roughly 25k plants per acre on 30” rows.

Thanks for the info. I ordered the 16 cell plates. I have heard 7.5-8.5" is preferred. I need to look into adjusting the rows, it's currently set for 36".

You ain't lying. Roundup was $300 per case and likely to run out. Fertilizer cost has doubled... and as of right now at $23 per bag.
Farmers are going to have it rough this year. F-J-B

What size seed are y'all running with that configuration? #3 or #4?

I like the #3’s but it just depends on what’s available. If it’s #3 you would use the b030-16 red plates for a JD Plate planter.

mine is a 4 row Deere plateless on 40" rows....I try for 8" seed spacings but 12" is fine.....using GPS guidance on the tractor allows me to "skip" over 8 rows about every 6 or 8 passes with the planter thru the field to leave bare disc lanes
