    Default Table Rock

Had a small family getaway this week at Devils Fork State Park. I've been dying to run up an actual mountain for a while now, just to see how I'd fare. I decided to run up to the Table Rock summit, which is right at 3 miles with a 12.1% grade. I was hoping to possibly get a top 10 for the Strava segment, but I didn't fare too well being from the lowcountry. I do some hill work but nothing as intense as this. I made it to the summit in 41:57 (13:53 pace). I only managed 19th for the segment, but 1st so far this year. It was quite a brutal climb, very sketchy in spots as well. This was on Thursday and my calves are still sore😄 I believe if I could do some serious mountain running like this more often, I could become a much better runner.

I believe that if you lived in the mountains you would be better prepared to run in the mountains. That's a memo...Glad you are making an attempt though!

Fun poke. I’ll be up to the foothills a couple times in March and April.

Nice shot. Didn't get to enjoy the scenery during the run, but hiked back up with the family after and got some nice pics. 20220224_142049.jpg

Wait, so you ran up there, not paying attention. THEN made your whole family walk up there, where you just were? Do you not love your wife and kids?

Good grief... No, the wife was determined to hike to the summit. I even tried to talk her out of it after seeing how hard it was.

Running up mountains is fun, getting down is the hard part.
