I have seen that in a mallard. Just one of those aberrations...

Camotoon - just realized who you are!
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

I could set up with the best of intentions in a spot that birds dont want to be or simply arent around and its not going to make a difference how good I am.

Birds don’t want to be where I hunt.

Obviously you got to have some in the area, but joe blow can’t sit there hammering at every bird as loud as he can and expect good results.

Tell me about it. My grandaddy always told me you get away with a lot at first light, but as soon as you see the first bird act extremely interested, but circle 100 times or flare, they telling you they see something they don’t like and make a change.

A true 95% of coastal hunters are incapable of hiding themselves.

Here is a clip from a video off YouTube by some SC hunters.

I searched SC coastal duck hunting.

This is precisely what I mean. Thinking that puddle ducks aren’t going to spot this a mile away, paired with improper decoy spreads, and constant mallard calls is exactly what keeps most folks years away from success.
