"United States Attorney Corey Ellis announced the arrest of a gang member for selling firearms.

Dashwarn Terrell Swygert, 27, was sentenced to more than 12 years after he plead guilty to two counts of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition.

Evidence presented to the court showed that in early 2020, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) conducted an undercover investigation into firearms within the Columbia area; during this investigation, ATF agents were introduced to Swygert.

According to reports from February 2020, Swygert sold six handguns, one of which had an extended magazine, to undercover ATF agents. During the investigation, Swygert bragged to others that he was selling guns to individuals who were running them up north. After his arrest in March 2020, agents recovered another loaded firearm.

In total seven handguns were recovered from Swygert; four of the guns were stolen.

One of the handguns, sold by Swygert to undercover agents, was preliminarily linked through ballistics analysis to three shooting incidents in the Columbia area.

Btw, you won't hear me apologize often, so you may want to put that in your sigfile. ~Mergie

Doubt too many care or are even trying to stop the violence. If they cared, the wouldn't have been releasing a bunch of felons who most assuredly were doing added time due to using firearms. Law abiding citizens is are the real target of gun control, obviously. This guy flaunting it is probably what got their attention.

Felon in possession of firearms and ammunition is the direction to go to lower firearms violence. This takes the violent offenders off the street but still require them to be incarcerated for a long period of time, not a suspended sentence or parole. The laws are already there the court is just not willing to do what it takes. Death penalty for career criminals will clear room for the new inmates.

Our justice system is failing honest Americans. If the justice system doesn't start doing its job vigilante justice will soon take its place.

Pretty much sums up my position on this issue. We had an incident over here Monday that covers all these bases. It's damn sad that these bastards have a revolving door and it takes a murder to make a charge stick. Murder should be a Mandatory death penalty charge. That would at least keep them locked up until they are dead.
