    Default Jerky choices, travel food.

Anyone got suggestions on good jerky that Doesnt cost an arm and a leg? I eat it from time to time but am finding myself eating that as well as almonds, nuts etc since I am on the road a lot and they are somewhat healthy and non perishable. Any other non perishable ideas are welcome also.

Uhhh….my suggestion is to take up deer hunting and get you a dehydrator.

Try Biltong….Stryve has it locally on the shelf.
My partner from South Africa sends it on the regular.

I make my own. Usually just watch for bottom round or other roasts on sale and make 3-5lbs at a time. Put it on my Campchef at 160 for 2-4 hours untill it’s the doneness I want.

A jar of peanut or almond butter and a few bananas will get you through the day.

No mans land is the best gas station jerky, but still pretty pricy.

No mans land, stop by a QT and get the big bag of the hot one and some hot tamales and you’re good for 1500 miles.

Used to do a lot of that. Time is not something I have to spare these days unfortunately.

I deer hunted 3-4 times this year and it was all in the last two weeks of the season. The least I have ever hunted in probably last 20yrs.
Current circumstances do not promote it at the moment.

Not sure why I haven’t thought about that.
Would be a hell of a lot faster and easier than making venison jerky.

I use deer roast as well. If buying roast from a grocery store just look for low fat content and little marbling as possible. Used to do the slice by hand thing untill my wife got me a meat slicer for Christmas last year.

Best store bought jerky is Chefs Cut, hands down.

Bucees maple cherry when you can get to one. It’s not cheap but it’s the best I’ve ever had.

If you buy a roast from the store the butcher will slice it however you want it. Keeps you from having to fool with it at home.

Actually Calhoun and Ft Valley . Right off I75, but either one is a pretty good ways from ATHELL. Another location coming to Brunswick soon. Worth the stop - if it isn't packed which never happens.

I/we order meat sticks from a place called Ray's Jerky in Colorado. They are, by far, the best meat sticks I've ever eaten. We order at least 72 at a time. got an order of 96 coming in today. Not bad pricing either.
Didn't care for their jerky, but the meat sticks are great.
