    Default Key West Charter

Anyone have a rec for a fishing charter in key west. Not for me. A buddy is hosting his brother’s bachelor party down there in April.

Look up Panama City inshore. They have a few captains/boats depending on what you are looking to do.

Hurricane Hole Marina had a bunch of o/b charter boats, never fished from any, took a ride on several when it was too windy for them to fish when I was boat shopping.

Fished with Dream Catcher Charters in Key West. They run a top notch outfit. Several boats if they’ve got a group, depending on what they want to do.

If it were me, I would plan to drive to Islamorada and go from Bud and Mary's . More charter boat options, better fishing closer to shore.

I completely disagree…. Depending on what you want to catch. There are some great fisherman out of KW area and you have just as many if not more options from a bottom perspective than Islamorada. Most of the fishing in the keys in general is over rated any way.

This is the important question. Are they looking to fish or just reel up bottom/reef stuff?

Gonna bring this back instead of starting a new one...my wife decided she wants to go to Key West in late February and wants to fish. She has never fished before watched me catch a few in Gulf Shores last year.

So back country or reef fishing? And any charter recommendations?

That is a great time to target the big female Tarpon as they start migrating to spawn. Good Permit and Bonefishing time too.

Florida Bay. I highly recommend Capt Jim Hobales. He launches from Flamingo. Long ride from Key West, but he will put you on fish. After done fishing for Flats fish, he will make sure you catch enough Mangrove Snapper to take back for supper.
