    Default Wood duck boxes

If you give 10 people a bag of gold, someone will complain about how heavy it is!

    I like those.

How did you dig the holes and how deep?

I ordered one box from tractor supply and I’m going to pick it up today. If I like it, I will get more.

Post hole diggers. Close to two feet. Mud will be everywhere. I put the post in a week ago and the water was lower. I hope they are going to be high enough.

    Good job!

ETA, find out what the high water mark is and make sure you aren't going all DU and killing them instead of raising them...

Close to the waters edge on the bank where you can back a 4 wheeler up to is the best place to put them, imho.

Servicing them is a bitch from a small boat, and impossible if wading.

Awesome to see you got them up already! Great looking area too!

If y'all are worried about getting flooded out, they don't need to be over water. Good ground / water cover is best for survival when they jump. I think open water without cover close by is tough on duckling survival.
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

When do you first start seeing them lay these days and is it getting noticeably earlier?

I have enough cedar to make about 500 of them things. I keep saying I’m going to do it and sell them but never get around to it.

Looks great. What stain did you put on the cypress? My co-workers wife heads up the project for SCDNR.

Ducks showed up this am for the first time this year
They were head bobbing and flying up to inspect the boxes.
