Little bit of sugar and butter and a butt load of pepper. And I really couldn't give a rats ass what y'all think

Everyone has a way. And everyone thinks their way is the right way.

Grits, eggs, sos, mixed in a big goolash with loads of pepper and Louisiana hot sauce is my go to

I like a runny egg on top of my grits or a spoonful of apple butter. But mostly just S&P and butter.
I'd post my beliefs with my enlightened tastes, but I just know there's a few of y'all out there... with a spork in a can of potted meat washing it down with a mountain dew just waiting to reply right behind me, not this time.. not gonna do it.
Man and other animals were first vegetarians; then Noah and his sons were given permission to eat meat: “every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you” Genesis 9:3

When we have grits for supper, say with Winningham's link sausage or grilled fresh fish, I add cheddar cheese and chives to my grits and then top them with stewed tomatoes and onions on the plate. It was an accidental discovery when the stewed tomatoes encroached on my grits and smuggled themselves onto the same forkload.
Breakfast grits only get butter, salt, pepper and maybe (ideally) liver pudding. I don't think I've had red-eye gravy since my grandmother passed. I way have to whip up a batch next time I have grits for breakfast.
Adding sugar to cornbread turns it into some sort of poverty cake.
Ate cornbread at a VFW fund raiser in Kansas last year during pheasant season with sugar in it. Other than hush puppies I don't remember eating any food made with cornmill with sugar in it. I can do without the sugar.
I don't know about sugar in corn bread but I love some chopped jalapeno, onion and red bell pepper in mine.
Never thought about that until I saw a NY Yankee sit down and do that at breakfast one day (one of my employees )
Have seen few folks put syrup on them as well
Guess whatever someone likes but to me I am just like most here. S, P and butter
More times than not mix eggs and sausage in with them too
In all honesty I tried it, not bad at all with sugar on grits but I just do not prefer them that way
