Been a slow year in my part of the world since I got back from Canada. Some good memories so far. Taking my daughter a few times, Si’s first SC wild mallard and one more hunt with great friends before veterans and Youth hunts.

    That is outstanding!
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

My sons have been making out of state duck hunting trips with me for 21 years now. Sure it's fun to go on trips with friends but don't hesitate to take your offspring on out of state trips, the memories will last two lifetimes, yours and theirs.

I am fortunate and blessed to have a bride that trusted me to get our boys back home safely and with sons that still want to tag along with their old man. Lord willing, I look forward to taking the grandbabies one day and add memories for a 3rd lifetime.

Quickie today. 48 minutes of fun. We could only hunt a max 1.5 hours due to falling tide.

    That’s awesome. Pretty soon (if
not already) they will be taking you. I vividly remember not being able to keep up with my dad and then him not
being able to keep up with me. All good memories. I only have one daughter but she loves to go to AR with me. She can hang with with any of the guys on the trip.

But.....then I look thru the pics of dads with there young kids and it makes me realize that's it's the "hunt" that we will remember and talk about. Not so much of the "killing". My youngest child and only son is now in college. The trips and memories I have made with him is priceless. Whether it was falling in a hole up to your neck, or sliding down a steep ramp when the water was really low, or taking one of his buddies from church on his first hunt....that kid shot three times at one on the water 40 yards and never broke a feather.
I'm just thankful that God gave us a creation to enjoy with the ones we love and care about most.
" ...it makes me realize that's it's the "hunt" that we will remember and talk about. Not so much of the "killing"." This line really struck a chord with me. I agree that this hasn't been a great season as far as my bag is concerned, but that's only part of the story. Personally, I have enjoyed this season immensely because of many other factors. One being that I was simply able to go. Another was that the son of my friend who taught me to hunt took me with him one morning. We didn't shoot anything, but it didn't matter, I just enjoyed the experience of being able to have things come full circle. That is what I will remember about this season.

Gave the wigeon a day off. Put some binoculars on a normal mallard spot and found enough to make a hunt.

Due to twin TPLO surgery, (one side didn't heal right)my dog is incapable of sitting. She kind of just falls to the side and lays down quickly. Needless to say, I'll never get a great dog/mallard pick like Joeypga has above. This is as good as it gets.

Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.
