    Default Youth Day 2022

Let’s see some pics. We saw a bunch of deer but with more than enough meat in the freezer, no shots were fired. I know, boring ass trophy hunting.

Had the privilege to watch this young man kill his first one yesterday. We went 6 times during the regular season and while we saw a bunch of turkeys and a few deer he never got a shot. I was starting to think it wasn't going to happen this season. Thank God for youth days or it would have been next year before he got a chance. He was definitely dedicated. I'm pretty sure I was as excited as he was.IMG_20220108_172935522.jpg

My son had a big day. He told me all week that he really wanted to kill 2 on youth day. We started the morning in a place that I felt certain he could kill a doe.

For the afternoon hunt, we went out on a limb and hunted a big clear cut. We ended up seeing 4 different bucks, at last light this guy appeared. I couldn’t tell anything about him through the binos. He insisted he had decent horns, it was youth day, so I told him to shoot. We walked up on this crazy looking broken up buck. He was excited, and it concluded another fun season.

Had a doe at 100 yds but got nervous for some reason ( wind was perfect) oh well she had a good season and she was fine with making friends with the neighbor’s horses

Colt got 2. One in the morning, one in the evening.

He went with a friend, and his friend laid claim to the 1st, as he'd never shot a deer (nor his rifle) before. Colt agreed it could be his. (LOL. Kids...)

Kind of a shame, on the friends behalf; I feel like blooding is a "right of passage" type thing.

Hopefully, when the friend actually kills his first, he'll be properly christened.

And good job to all the kids & dads!
