"Fancy" steakhouse

So I went to a "fancy" steak house here in Spartanburg the other night for the first time in a while. The waiter asked if I would like some sautéed mushrooms to go with my steak. I said, "sure, I'll have some." He brings me a bowl out and I ate two or three, not thinking much of it. I got my bill and discovered that they charged me NINE DOLLARS for a bowl of mushrooms! Steak was par at best, potato was decent and the salad was the highlight of the meal. Rant over.

High end steak places are almost always "family style" with the sides. About everything is a la carte.

Did you fuss about the $10 steak that you probl'y paid $35-40 for?

If a single digit side dish causes this much disdain that you feel the need to make an inner-web post about it, you should have most likely stayed at home and cooked a hamburger steak on the stovetop.

Never been to The Peddler in Spartanburg, but the one in Greenville is On Time, Every Time. One of our favorite places to go. The whole pork loin is my go to.

Man, I started to get that. They had the pork loin with the teriyaki. I got the fillet. It wasn't bad.

Went to a place called Chow Daddy's in Bluffton Friday night. Kid ordered a salad for $11. Waitress asked if he wanted proteins with it. He said grilled shrimp. When I got the bill, the salad was $11 and the 6 shrimp cost $13. It was a $24 salad. So your $9 mushrooms were cheap. Next time go to Zaxby's where they are $3.99.

Prices have gone through the roof. Didn’t notice until I started buying protein and other items for the holidays. Wow.

I was upset that at redbone the other night they charged me $6 for a side salad and the shrimp tacos tasted like the the runoff grease bucket on a pig cooker
