They hung 37 pieces of paper on 5 people.

    37÷5= 7.4 tickets per hunter

That's got to be some kind of record.

I thought in cases like this, guns/boat/etc were seized.

These appear to be kids, they'll get a slap on the wrist for first offense, pay some money and learn one of two lessons, 1. don't ever do this again or 2. how not to get caught doing this again.

Confiscating guns, boats, trucks, etc is what they threaten to do if you don't come clean and talk, and for the professional outlaws.
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

Kids being driven by DNR employees to a deer stand in the middle of a flooded cornfield on a DNR youth hunt to shoot ducks= good.

Kids driving themselves to public water to shoot ducks over corn=bad.

I could be wrong, but I’m sure that is part of the maximum penalty and up to warden/judge discretion. Imagining this was a group of youngsters, they probably didn’t have any priors and used it more as a learning moment instead of taking everything. They’ll probably get community service hours to work off the fines and restitution on the birds.

One of the charges was trespassing to hunt so I’d imaging they came in on public, but passed a few signs to get to where they were going and we’re on private.

Having that much lead shot is gangsta.

No fishing or hunting for 1 year after court.

I'm pretty sure this case is a little deeper than simply baiting ducks on someone else's property they didn't have permission to hunt.....

What type of habitat was it, and how did they access it?
