Is a "flapjack" what you northern boys call a pancake?

That's a pretty high tech setup.

I have no knowledge of what yankees call pancakes or flapjacks. IHOP serves pancakes, flapjacks or a southern dish not real sweet so you add cane syrup, like hoecake.

Farmers back in the day needed calories, there were times the hens did not lay, the pork ran out but work was still to be done and working folk needed energy. Not ever SC family was the benefactor of slave labor. Thank God.

He mentioned hoe cakes right after that, which at least nullifies his pancake faux pas.

    Flapjacks are unsweetened pancakes.

We will have collards, cornbread and black eyes with tomorrow's hambone tossed in next weekend except I will cook a pot of pintos and onions while deep frying chicken in lard.

BB, you need to get over to Mert's for some cat head biscuits.

Is this the place you're talking about? Regardless, it looks pretty amazing. I try to stay as far away from Uptown as I can, but this'd be worth the trip.

That's it, I seldom visit job sites now but Merts was a staple anytime I went uptown.

“Flapjacks” in Garden City used to be called “The Pink Pony”.

Looking back on all the bewbies I saw in there over the years, it should have always been called “Flapjacks”.

They are close to Lake Butler. They lived in the country at Columbia City, in Columbia County. Across the highway from Rose creek.

Geetch and others - do y'all know a place that sells homemade syrup in the Central Florida area? My wife is down in the Kissimmee area now and I'm pretty sure I could get her to bring us some back...

We always enjoyed the Steen's brand I brought home from Loooosiana. It's readily available online. Every roadside stand south of NOLA carries it.

Cool to ride to Houma during harvest and after when they burnt the fields.

Most any of the small local grocery stores would have it. Also try the local meat markets. Piggly Wiggly probably has it in FL.

Having grown up in Louisiana, I'm very familiar with Steens but am currently out. Didn't know if the Flo-Ri-Da stuff is any better?

And feed stores carry it as well as local honey. Get tupelo honey if you can.

The syrup we used to get in the Lake City area was locally made and sold sorta like local honey with the bottlers name on it in a liquor type bottle.

I swear, first thing I am doing on Saturday is making a batch of Catheads. Enough is enough.
