Got a second chance draw with SC-WP. Ive never been drawn for any kind of hunt and definitely not with SC-WP. Anybody done one of these yet? What can I expect? What was your hunt like?

A fish bites 2 times a day, right before I get to the water, and as soon as my boat gets back on the trailer.
They take you to private impoundments around the state.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
It's certainly different from hunting the Cat1 WMAs. Like Bog said, you're on private land with blinds and such. I know on the WMAs you have a blind provided but I often find myself hunting out of the blind more than I do in it. You'll have a guide and hopefully birds show up.
Same rules apply w/ 25 shell limit. Just follow the instructions on the email and pray the ducks cooperate.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

We got invited on one last year. Fun hunt mostly woodies in a cornfield. You have a guide that takes you and hunts with you. All the guys there were very nice and down to earth. Overall was a good experience. Looking forward to our hunt with them this year.
More Ducks, Less People
Our groups got picked last year. We were told it was private land with wild duck not farm ducks. As soon as we arrive I could hear tame ducks quacking. When I asked about the tamies I was told it was only a few for slow days and helps to draw wild ducks. We then loaded up in the side by side and our guide proceeded to run over his dog on the way to blind while the dog was taking a shit in road. He then claimed he will run him over again without stopping to check the to see if the dogs is ok. Our guided didn’t know where the blind was but eventually found it. The hunting was fair we killed woodducks, teal, and ringnecks at first light then it got slow. Our guide claimed he was going to run down a cripple from earlier and told us to get ready. Then went and flushed the tame mallards towards our blind. Over all is was a strange hunt but we did kill some birds. I do not understand how DNR is supporting this operation and encouraging the use of live decoys. I appreciate the chance and opportunity to hunt but this program seem to benefit the private land owner more than the public duck hunter.

So did the Dog die?
F**K Cancer
Just Damn.
No he limped around for a while but was ok and hunted the rest of the morning.
We met up with the coordinator down the road and followed him to Camp Woodie. We were told we'd be hunting a private impoundment, which was true...The "guide" went to the release pen twice and jumped chicken mallards to get them to fly for us. I didn't pick up my gun. Hopefully you will have a better experience. We won't be accepting another invitation for that.
Showed up to meet 3 gents that were, to our surprise, hunting with us. The day prior the “guide” told me it was a woody shoot. So I knew what to expect….. One of the 3 gents asked if SC-WP was affiliated with SC-WA, because he hoped to be on one of their release mallard hunts…… The 2 guides showed up, had a little meet and greet, and we rode in a cart behind a Kawasaki mule to the impoundment. The impoundment was a flooded corn field about 2.5 to 3 foot deep. Wood ducks were roosting in the flooded trees behind the corn. Seen maybe 15 wood ducks total of which 2 came below the tree tops, and one of the guys that was in the other group was hammering on his mallard call every time a wood duck came into sight. 8 people 2 dead wood ducks.
The two guides seemed like good dudes, think they had some kind of degrees in biology from Clemson, and it was cool to talk with them about what they had done with the property. Not sure what the deal was. More ducks should have been using the 2 or 3 acres of flooded corn and them trees that were flooded too. Went into this not knowing what to expect, and I hate to not be grateful for something given to you, but I don’t think we will be putting in for the second chance draws no more.
Got to ask- what is sc-wp? Thks
They give the South Carolina hunter the opportunity to hunt private land that the owners give them the opportunity to manage and work on. They do deer, dove, duck, and turkey.
They had put up dikes, installed water control structures, and planted corn in the impoundment and in the dove field on this place that an individual owned. Wonder who paid for all that?

Weilicki is on the board. The executive director, Ed Paul, used to run Camp Woodie. I'm sure there are other connections to SCWA on that board, but I don't run in that crowd and never have.
My daughter got a conciliation prize for pintail partners in lieu of a draw hunt.
When it gave me directions to Rimini, I politely declined.
