Finally had some success in the national forest, but it wasn't with the deer... Ran the 25K last chance trail run, which started at the highway 52 trailhead of the Swamp Fox Passage of the Palmetto Trail. There was also a 50K option, but I tend to run the shorter trail races so I can recover quickly. The weather was perfect, around 45 degrees. Had a guy take off pretty quick, so I caught up and chatted with him for the first 3-4 miles. After that it started getting a bit difficult to run side by side, so I took the lead. Pretty much ran solo the last 12 miles. Was able to run pretty consistent splits thanks to a nice dry trail with no water or mud to deal with. There were some roots here and there, but overall not bad. Finished 15.8(ish) miles in 1:53:29 ( 7:10 pace).
