    Default New Hoyt

New hoyts released today. The carbon riser model got a complete overhaul from last year. I haven’t put one in the hand yet, but from the reviews I’ve seen it is light years better than the carbon of years prior. I have no interest in a carbon riser bow, and I think the cost to shave 3/10 of a pound is absurd, but to each their own. It’s cool to see what they’re doing with carbon. The aluminum rigs just got some light tweaking from last year. Most notably they moved the cams left (on a RH bow) so your sight picture is wide and clear. Didn’t seem like a big deal until I shot it outside, it’s a welcomed change. The picatiny site mount from hoyt is far better than the bridge lock sight mount from Mathews after tinkering with both. No new color or camo from hoyt this year which was surprising. For the second year in a row I think hoyt has a winner in the ventum 33. I really like their binary cams and their adjustable let off system is nice and simple.

I think the new bow prices have got out of hand. Personally I feel like we have come to a point of the engineering where they can only make minor tweaks. As for me I wait a year and buy the flagship bows when they are deeply discounted. I bought a Axius Alpha for under $700.00 brand new with warranty.

Just like Kevin Strothers said years ago, unless someone reinvents the wheel bow “technology” is pretty much at a standstill. None of the bow companies have really come out with anything “revolutionary” in years.

With that said, I do like the things that BowTech and Elite are doing to make bows easier to adjust and tune without presses and trips to the local shop. That’s a pretty good thing if you live in a state that doesn’t have many archery shops. I do think its BS that nothing new has come out, but the prices still keep going up. However, they can only charge what people are willing for pay for them.

I know I see a ton of people already selling V3's on AT.

I agree, and unless something changes, I’ve bought my last Mathews. Damn tired of them “protecting” their dealers to the point of pigeonholing people into either working on their own stuff, or going to a dealer that doesn’t give a damn whether you do business with them or not.

It’s past time for there to be another choice in the Midlands……

I have given serious thought over the last couple of years about opening an archery shop here on the northwest side of Lexington.

I would imagine that it is pretty hard for an archery shop to make it here in SC.

I have A saddle and one is all you need. I haven’t “bought” a bow in over 20 years. If you’re looking at me as a basis for a business model I hope you’re okay with starving.

Seen a many archery shops come and go. Not sure what caused them to close.
Spartanburg needs one in a bad way, I need use of a cutoff saw and new inserts. Drove to Rock Hill earlier in the year to get 1/2 dozen arrows.

Powdersville is closer than Rock Hill isn’t it?

I was close to Gaffney. An archery store needs a 20 yard shooting lane to survive, least I think so. With the amount of schools getting into the sport, I think a good one could make it.
If any of y'all remember Roland's there on 501 Conway, that was the perfect setup.

Coming from someone that still shoots an out of date Bowtech and has an opinion for everything!
