    Default Ladder Stands

I am looking to put up a few of these ladder stands in some of my more "permanent" sites. I like the size of the seat and the size of the platform because I like shooting standing. Also, they are 18ft. My concern is that I have never used a ladder stand for bow hunting. I see that they use them out in the midwest with good results, but are they good for here in SC? I mean, our deer come out looking up in trees more than they do the ground. Do any of you have success bow hunting out of ladder stands?

I like to hang sticks and a lock on with the platform of the lock on resting on a branch. Seems to be the best way to break up your profile. I have 1 ladder stand that has a huge holly in front of the tree it is in. I top the holly a little each year and have had great luck staying hidden. It’s just harder to hide a ladder stand, so I rarely use them.

Working on a few light weight lock-ons too.

I’ve killed a dump truck load out of a ladder stand with the bow, those big game stands are comfortable with the suspension seats.

I have 2 of the ines in the link and use them to bowhunt. They are very comfortable and the platform is really big which is great for shooting a bow

I have a Hawk big horn and a big denali both are 20ft great ladder stands. The big horn seat flips up for bow hunting.

Hawk big Denali 22ft is the ticket. I've got 4 of them. Cut some saplings and stuff on the backside and on the sides. If you can't kill a deer with a bow out of one of those you need to find another sport

I've killed deer from a CB ladder stand with a compound bow only 12 feet off the ground. The key to hunting that low is to keep your bow in hand, resting the bottom limb on the rifle rest.

Build my own ladder stands and tripods. They work just fine. One tip, it is best to have a little cover around the stand just like with a lock/on or climber. Sitting out in the open is not good with any of those.

We use the muddys and big game ladder stands out west where loc-on friendly trees are few and far between. The more natural cover around the better.

Love making home made ladder stands. First deer I ever killed was out of an 8' tall wooden ladder stand I nailed together in my backyard when I was 13. I'd love to see some pics of yours

Coolest stand I ever hunted out of was a ladder stand. Bear hunt in Newfoundland. The outfitter made them on site literally. After I shot my bear, I went with him and built one at a new site he was starting. Made on site with a chainsaw a hammer, and a bucket of nails/spikes.

But for the OP, some cut brush and a handful of zip ties and you can blend it right in.
