Here’s some good info on selection and why deer select one plot over another. Probably surprise you

Here is the mix I used in mid March and mid May; all 4 products sprayed in
    12 oz/ Ac Cleth
    32 oz/ Ac 2,4-DB
    1 oz Halosulfuron(only May app)
    21 oz/ Ac Prodiamine(only may app)
Just don't hit your plots with this if you have chicory blended with the clover.

I've tried turnips, radish, etc. The radish will come up about two inches then just disappear. I don't know if it's lack of sun or what.
Corn out of a bag does great anywhere dont have to worry about the soil PH.. It will draw in plenty of them little bucks that you like to shoot at!

    Default Clover

I planted a fall mix last October which it turns out included quite a bit of clover which is about10-12' high amongst wheat oats and winter peas which are about24" tall. My question is can I mow the plot and expect that the wheat and oats will die off leaving the clover to survive?
I have a photo in an email but am unable to attach it to this message.

    yes

but some people say not to mow clover any more. the wheat and oats will die on their own because of summer.

I'd still mow it because I like to and its pretty.

but be sure to watch glenn's video before you do anything.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

I have been on the clover train for a while but it always seems like we let them grow up. If you were behind the 8 ball now what would be your plan? Spray may app early or spray March now then hit again in a few weeks?

Spray now, see what happens with the weeds and possibly spray again in 4-5 weeks. Clethodim and 2,4-DB aren’t great herbicides and may need 2 apps to control larger weeds. On the second app drop the rate of Prodiamine to 16 oz or leave it out all together.

You guys who plant turnips and radish are hogs not rooting them up? They are bad enough on grain plots but have been Leary on planting root crops.

I usually have to spray cleth twice usually 2 months apart. That stuff works extremely slow

Also I was thinking if I mowed that the thatch produced by mowing would shade out any weeds, kind of like "sow and mow" but am concerned it might smother the clover as well.

It’s hard to kill a good stand of clover. The clippings will not hurt it one bit.

Thanks, I think I'll mow it. The photo above posted by Palmetto bug is the field in question.
