There's really not much of a story. Dad was down to his last tag and almost let the deer go before deciding he was close enough to record book to kill him. He ordered a spare tag yesterday afternoon when he got home.

I've gotten all the mature deer we've killed this year on trail cam but this one was a stranger. I have some cards to pull but, so far, I don't have any pictures of this buck on camera.

I've got a couple of deer on camera that we haven't killed that I think will make the book too...the hard part is killing them, of course, but it's keeping things interesting...

He turned 83 in June. Mom is 85 and they both still run the roads like teenagers. I hope they passed these genes on to me.

Oh, and, I hope no one surprises either on of them because they're both carrying...haha.

Mom is 112lbs of, grew-up on the railroad tracks in Bethera, country mean. As kids, she and her siblings were terrified of hobos and wild dogs...she ain't 'fraid of nothing now, though. Someone commented to me a couple of years ago that they had seen mom out walking but she wasn't carrying her usual piece or rebar with her. I told them it was because she finally found a pistol that she likes...dang, I love those folks.

Thanks for the great reminder - I try to remember to thank the Lord every day for my healthy, fun and active family but there's no way to fully appreciate something that's always been there. I hope it's a long, long time until I do.

    Nice one, very envious.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
