Pick any standard one but replace the mustard with mustard base bbq sauce.

Key to any chili is boil your hamburger meat slightly before putting it on the skillet with other ingredients

I use ground chuck, white onion, a can of tomato sauce, chili powder and black pepper.

I could eat it by the spoon.

In my experience/opinion, a really good hotdog chili is not fit to eat as just chili. Totally different things, IMO.
I'll be watching this cause I'd like to have a good HD chili recipe also.

Heck with recipes for chili, let’s see some pictures…

Deli mustard, sautéed onions and sauerkraut.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Ground round, McKormick chili packet, can of tomato sauce, little mustard to taste.

The above recipe is probably the best I’ve had other than what Mr. Wickers put on his dogs when he had a cart on Assembly Street across from the library back in the day.

This, except I just use a packet of the pre-made chili seasoning.

I found this one years ago and it’s been my go to.

    1 pound ground beef
    ⅓ cup water
½ (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
    ½ cup ketchup
    2 ½ teaspoons chili powder
    ½ teaspoon salt
    ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
    ½ teaspoon white sugar
    ½ teaspoon onion powder
    1 dash Worcestershire sauce

Place ground beef in a large saucepan with water and mash the beef with a potato masher to break apart. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, chili powder, salt, black pepper, sugar, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat until the chili has thickened slightly and the beef is fully cooked, about 20 minutes.

You're smart enough to season hotdog chili. The way to stretch it is by browning it it water. Meat will fall apart and be very super thin... makes more from less. Season as needed. Ketchup, mustard, chili powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, maybe a litter garlic powder. You get the idea.
Oh yeah... salt and pepper too.
