    Default Waxing traps

I've trapped some in the past, (pre-coyote in upstate sc),mainly coons, possums and an occasional skunk or fox, but I've decided to try my hand at some bigger predators this year. I've bought some duke and mb traps, got them degreased and done all the necessary modifications the YouTube guys said I should, and got some dye. My question is, when yall wax your traps, do you melt a whole pot of wax, or float your wax on top of water and pull the trap through it?

I have a pot full of wax that I keep and add to every year.

What mods did you make to the MBs? Every 550 I own was gtg right out of the box.

Good trapping channel on YouTube is Hoosier Trapper outdoors.

I’ll add…I bought this cheap pot for the wax specific purpose.

Melt it, as soon as it smokes a bit and is completely melted, turn the heat down, drop trap in there for about 30 seconds and remove. If you drop and pull trap too quick, you will get too much wax on the trap.

I modified the duke traps (center swivel, night latch, etc.) to pretty much be what the mb550's were straight out of the box. Rookie mistake- if this hobby takes off ill only buy mb's from now on.
I like Hoosier, and I've also gotten some good pointers from coon creek outdoors.
