    Default Wood ducks?

Millet did fairly well in the pond this year. Been flooded for about 10 days. No birds to speak of yet. Summerton area. Figured they'd start showing up by now especially with the lack of available water. It's about a 1 acre hole. I know some of the big ponds are just now flooding. Thinking once everyone gets flooded i'll see more. Anyone else seeing many woodies yet?

Damn it this made me miss home.

Past few years I’ve been away from SC. Michigan, Florida, now Oklahoma. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been on a fast and furious wood duck hunt. Those little screaming critters coming through the trees are hard to beat.

I like wood ducks too …. But if you’re in Oklahoma, you have it a helluva lot better duck hunting wise now.

If you give 10 people a bag of gold, someone will complain about how heavy it is!

I got them at just about every spot I have. Most I seen at one swamp was about 30

A lot more piling into swamps near deer stands this week when compared to two weeks ago. We need a lot more water to fill everything up. I hope low water will concentrate them, but I think it will just be lower numbers overall.

This will be the first year in 20 years that I won’t be shooting wood ducks in SC on opening day. Headed west for the opener this year.

Hope you're wrong. Had 10-15 this morning. Guess they're enroute.

10/4. They usually show up within 2-3 days after the hole gets water. 10 days had me wondering what was going on.

    Had several thousand since September.

Thank God Hickory Top is starting to get water.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
