    Default Drones

School me on a drone for an 8 year old. There are a pile of options, but my boy has taken interest into them. More than likely it will be crashed in the first couple of days so don’t get too carried away.

I bought a "decent" one off Amazon with good reviews. We messed with it for a few months. It's been in the box for 2 years now. Don't get carried away. You should be able to find what is good for him for less than $100. $150 max.

My son got the DJI Mavic Mini when he was 8 and had no problems at all operating it.

Some of the fancier ones are extremely easy to fly. A guy at our office brought his in to show off and tried to launch it in the parking lot. It got up about 6 feet off the ground, stayed there and reported that it couldn't fly there because we were too close to the restricted airspace of CHS. The thing would autonomously avoid powerlines, trees and any other obstacle. If the batteries got low, it would fly back to the starting point. The guy has done some really impressive video work with it. I think his was around the $1k mark. Not sure how far down into the economy lines the autonomous capabilities penetrate but even the cheapos might be easier to fly than you think.

DJI is probably the best way to go. They're pretty fun to mess around with and make some cool videos

Everyone I know that bought one used it for a day or so then it either crashed in the water, or havent touched it since.

    Hope this helps.

I went the $100 route. I’ll see what happens.

The hundred dollar ones are harder to fly. I went that route as a beginner.
