Mine is the same year and model. I’m sitting at about 125,000 with no issues yet. I’m sure I’m gonna be due for something soon

    That looks REAL inexpensive.

Mine rattles like hell on startup. Just took it in last week for a reprogram of some sort. It's better, but still there. It's got to go back.

The next step is supposed to be pro rated based on mileage.

Not all have issues but carbon on the valves are on all I can assure you. Not only Ford but any direct injection engine

It’s going to need chains and tensioners. I’m not a Ford dealer but I know the law of physics and speaking on experience not opinion.

I have a 2020 Silverado that seems to rattle when accelerating and also has a check engine light. Dealership replaced a valve or something a few weeks back and it was better for a few days but returned again.

Reckon it's the same issue as the Ford?

Can anything be done to help prevent this? Our Pilot has direct injection. My father has one of the eco boosts in his new truck.

Have you been into any ecos that have been running a catch can? Any reduction in the carbon build up on the valves?

This man knows what he’s talking about. Unless you like cracking the head on your motor when it goes out at 95K. That’s why I’m taking my ‘19 Yukon to him on Wednesday to do the trans and AFM delete.

    I have not.

Some would argue the catch can serves no purpose.

No sir. I’d suggest cleaning the valves which isn’t cheap. I use to say at 60k but I retract and say at 100k ish clean them. It’s worth the coin.

No worries Johnny....I think I will stick with carbon and trees. I deleted my posts on carbon opportunities for SC Landowners. As I prefaced when I posted if it violated anything please delete since it had company advertising in it.

Just for curiosity sake, would an additive help with the carbon build up? 20 some odd years ago I had twin direct injected OBs(Yamaha 200 HPDIs) and I ran Yamaha's Ring Free to help with Carbon build up. Not sure if it worked or not but I put 700 hours in three years on them with no problems. You think steady maint treatments do anything to help alleviate some of the buildup?

ETA: I don't own and never will, just more curious of the mechanics perspective of additives and the likes. Are they useful or just snake oil?
