    My mother in law bought a place in Myrtle Beach a few years ago to live at full time for retirement (she's from SC, lived in CLT before moving to MB). If we ever inherit it, I'll sell it to the highest and best offer and hire someone to handle all of the transactions without me ever having to go down there ... I don't care if the buyer is from South Carolina, Ohio, Alaska or Mongolia. I'll then continue to hope that MB drops off into the Atlantic Ocean.

    Something like Catawba Land Conservancy would keep it safe but the problem with that bunch it is preserved but no one can step foot on it, hunt, or fish so what good is it to me.

    It's a handicap to future generations. I don't like losing land to developments but you truly never own the land since you pay taxes on it. No way that I would handicap my heirs further.

    Yep, but even conservation easements can be condemned.
