    Default It works....

Knocked out a blade to show the "hunt group" how I make them and proceeded to show how well it works. Wish I could get the video to upload. This was before the true sharpening. Now it has been sharpened and is freaky sharp.

Very nice. That’ll pass through a metal detector all day, everyday.

Looks great! You mind explaining the sharpening process?

Basically taking small tiny flakes off the edge turning bigger "teeth" into smaller sharper teeth. It's kinda hard to explain without seeing it.

Thanks, I appreciate the response. I've watched a video or 3 on this knapping business and have successfully avoided getting bitten by the bug (thus far). I like your work.

Hopefully this helps. Made another smaller point today to show the edges. First is the initial edge before sharpening. You take the small flakes off the down pointing "deltas", flip and repeat the same. The second photo is the sharpen edge that gets straightened out in the process.

Back in the 21st century, Japanese blades are vastly superior to German blades.

Well... Fish is correct about the Japanese steel. I absolutely love my R2 powdered steel Japanese kitchen knives.

YG15 - you figure you could make a relatively thin blade/tool that would be suitable for use around the house?

That's cool, but I would really like a big ole fat corn fed duck breast right now.

I have a knife that GB made, I like it. Japs care about metal.
