    Default Pudel Pointing

Tailypo had her first NAVHDA Natural Ability test yesterday. We got 108 out of 112 points. We lost points in tracking that knocked us out of a Prize 1.

We tested at the Foothills NAVHDA chapter in Harmony, NC. It was a great location and was very well run, especially considering it was the club's first test ever.

I can't begin to express the pride I felt when my 10 month old puppy locked up on point in a new field in front of crowd of strangers and held steady while the bird flushed.

Or the feeling of helplessness during the tracking test when she obviously lost the track and desperately cast around trying to pick it back up and couldn't.

I'm happy with her progress. One more point would have given us the Prize 1 but I'm happy with our score and her performance.

Gotcha. I train at both locations, spend more time at Quail Haven. Both are quality places.

    Glad the dog did well.

Congratulations on the Prize II. Good looking pup. Now you can start training for utility.

    How much does she weigh?

Man. Not every day you see a slick coat pudelpointer. I have one too. Which breeder did you go with if you don’t mind me asking?

Thank you! We're proud despite not getting a 1. She's right at 60lbs.

She came from Bowman Kennels in Tennessee.

For sure. Foothills was a great venue and I was treated very well for someone who had never tested and knew literally no one from the club.

Annie ran her NA at Foothills last March. Good people, especially Jim Heaney.

She’s a slick coat as well. Out of Idaho, Hardtrigger gun dogs.

    Hey Britt,

You ran NA at Foothills? I was thinking this was their first test based on what the judges were saying. Maybe it was their first Utility Test?

I was impressed with the club and the members. Everybody went out of their way to say a few words and give legitimate advice.

The biggest surprise for me was Mocksville. I'd never even heard of it before I booked a room for the test. I took the dog downtown to see if there was a patio to sit and eat. I was amazed at the people that came up to speak and be social. I absolutely could not pay for food or a beer the whole evening. If we hadn't had a test the next day I would have loved to sit around and drink all night with those folks.

I ran my test in Stanfield, NC.
