I don’t believe those are chanterelles
On second look I think they may be jack o lanterns.
I'd avoid simply because they are clumped together, at the base of a tree (that may be dead). Look closer at the gills. Chantrelles grow more scattered, and the stem is smooth. I bet those you have pictured have gills down the stem, making them jack-o-lantern.

Not chants.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
Classic jack-o-lanterns. Do not eat.
