I had a Vmax that would cut out at mid range only (3000-3500 rpm) … was a ground issue. There is much electrical going on under that cowling. Check fuel first as described, and primer bulb and check all electrical connections on the main ground

one end is the negative battery terminal, the other end will be on the block or a negative post on your starter
just follow it from battery to motor. Also unplug your 10 pin harness and then plug it back up.
