If I had to choose one gauge to shoot the rest of my life I’d choose a 16 all day. I grew up shooting them.

A duckchoppin loaded 16g whacked this one

It seems like I called RST one time and they did but I can't remember for sure. I bought a Lee load all and set it up where for a load I liked and just used it to drop the powder and shot. It has worked well so far.

I have a 16 gauge Spartan o/u, they were made for Remington by Baikal. I love it but good luck finding one now considering they are made in Russia...

This is the only box of shells I’ve been able to find this year. Only $12 though.

From this weekend. That one of 3 I own. All passed down. The sweet 16 never gets used because I just can't shoot hump backs but the citori is a lazer and goes often. This 870 was in retirement for year except for rabits. Its shot fantastic. A 16 with a mod choke is hard to beat on a dove field

Bay Street Outfitters used to carry some RST. I doubt they have any now but might be worth a call. Where would go to get shells for Damascus barreled guns.

E, for a new gun you got cheaper options like the ones mentioned for a o/u: CZ, Bakial, perhaps Stevens, etc. Of course, there's older used guns out there that open up more options, but they'll have fixed chokes. Far as buying new, the Browning Lightning or White Lightning is gonna be hard to beat.

Reloading has allowed me to shoot my 16 more often and made it affordable too. That makes me happy.

I just looked and that Stevens 555 E looks like a solid option, for a new gun. Savage site has MSRP as $900, Cabelas has the 16ga at $699. Looks to be a step up from a base line o/u with extractors, basic wood, etc. Its got a nice looking aluminum receiver, walnut furniture, ejectors, screw in chokes, etc.

CZ used to make a few more models, but looks like they've scaled it back and hitched their wagon to the flagship Redhead firearm, far as o/u's go.
