GTRs in Arkansas are utilized by a very few species , for loafing more than feeding... Wood Ducks and the highly overrated Mallard.. I can count on two hands the number of Wigeon, Pintails, Blacks and Spoonies I have killed in the woods in AR.

AR is the most disappointing place there is for a duck hunter.
Water control should be about keeping water OFF the timber first and foremost. Mother Nature gives a reprieve if left alone. When you know for a fact your timber is going to be flooded 5 months out of the year then it makes growing season flooding a serious issue. If you want to play Mother Nature then you need to be able to keep water out as well as put water in.

    Agreed.

Which is why the best timber hunting left in AR is on private.

It would take a reunion with these two to get me back in the Scatters.

Anywhere I can hunt and not see other people is what I like. By that definition, Arkansas comes in close to last.

When I hunt public in Arkansas I very rarely see anybody. I see more people in sc than Arkansas.
