    Default Ditch Bag

I know we have had some pretty good posts about what to keep in the boat in case of an emergency but I can't find them. Anyone have a link or what do you keep in the boat just in case. I know it varies by where and how big of water but what are some of the things?

Usually have plenty of that but more referencing if you get stranded overnight with an injury....got the basics like a Rambo knife, a Pam Anderson edition Playboy, dehydrated beer and the raw materials for CBD oil, but what are some of the things I could be forgetting.

Drinking water, first aid kit, flares, whistle, warm clothes, rain jacket

Offshore- same as above plus- sat phone, epirb, life raft, strobes on life jackets

We always kept mask and fins onboard for lines getting wrapped in the wheels

tourniquet, bleeding kit. A first aid kit is nice but a splinter wont kill you, a severed artery will.

Shelter, DRY warm clothing. waterproof fire starter

    Communication tools and extra batteries

    Rule of 3s.

lack of shelter will kill you in 3 hours.

lack of water will kill you in 3 days.

Lack of food will kill you in 3 weeks.

    Pack accordingly.

    EPIRB
Satellite Messenger seems to be another good tool to have. Folks can live track you too.
Handheld VHF Radio (nice to have if onboard fails, is swamped)
Small portable jump box with USB charging port.

I have a ditch box with spare spark plugs, pull start, wire, connectors, etc. that has saved my backside and gotten me (and others) home more times than I can count.

Some of the dirt necks on this forum that I camp with could stand to bring an extra case of beer and a gallon of gas.

i purchased a real "ditchbag" from ACR a few years ago.
It is bright yellow and floats with up to 75lbs in it (make sure your bag will float w/ weight in it)
It has an ACR PLB in it, handheld ICOM VHF that floats and a Garmin handheld GPS that floats,
first aid kit that has more than band-aids, has burn creams, trauma patches, eye patches, antibiotics, eye rinse, etc.
A waterproof floating LED flashlight made specifically for ditchbags, flare gun and flares, glow sticks, etc
    bottle water and snack bars,
Very important, I have about 20ft of paracord that i put carabiner clips on so everyone can tether to each other and not drift apart
Probably some things I forgot to list, my bag is at the coast w/ my boat or I would get pics

Lot of good things mentioned above. A tarp is a good thing too. I never gave a tarp in a boat any thought, until I was gator hunting with a forum member on here back several years ago. We got caught in a pop up storm, and he pulled that tarp out. We sat up under that tarp until the rain passed. I’ve kept a tarp in my boat since.
