My 82 year old step-father is the same way. I seem to recall a derm telling me a vitamin deficiency makes the elderly more susceptible to skin cancers.

The animals I eat are plant based diets so I don’t have to be.

Went to see the doctor a few weeks ago. Asked about diet just to see what she’d say. Started talking about cholesterol immediately. Told me to avoid bacon, beef, pretty much everything that I eat. Not a word about carbs and sugar. Basically illiterate on the topic of nutrition.

It is truly baffling how backwards so many physicians are.

Looking forward to hearing this one on the 21st at Edisto...

You forget most physicians receive little to nutritional training what so ever.
“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

Yes they do. The pharmaceutical reps keep them up to date.

They still think cholesterol means heart attack.

My wife was told recently to take statins and do a vegan diet because her cholesterol was slightly "high". A skinny 30 year old woman taking a statin?? Needless to say we don't use that doctor anymore.

They know just enough to be dangerous and to know which drug to sell to create a repeat customer, bothe for the problem that drug didn't solve and the new ones it caused

Then I would definitely have a second opinion.

Statins are a good way to get dementia or Alzheimer's to solve a problem that was never a problem to being with. You're absolutely right about a lack of understanding about cholesterol.

You should. But definitely not her. There is ZERO reason to waste the time and money asking another pill pushing asshole for an opinion.

No idea, but he is speaking my language. People need to realize all this “food“ is designed to make you keep eating. Especially most of the alternative “healthy” sweeteners concocted in the labs of Big Carbs…

What even is an "expert" these days? Someone with a medical degree force fed the same food pyramid, low fat, red meat is bad for you garbage that misled people?

The whole "expert" term just seems to mean nothing anymore after the last few years. The "experts" got a lot wrong. And the equally as qualified experts were shut down when they spoke against the approved list of thoughts.

Totally agree, Jimmy. All these book-learnin' types---doctors especially!!!---will be the downfall of our country. I use my vacation every year to travel out west to the Navajo reservation to get some real healin' advice from a medicine man. Only way to fly in my opinion. Do you have any Indian reservations up there in Ohio where you're from?
