A fishing team from North Carolina hauled in a record-breaking 958-pound Blue Marlin in the MidAtlantic Fishing Tournament on Wednesday.
The tournament is held every year at the Canyon Club Marina in Cape May and the Sunset Marina in Ocean City, Md.
Capt. Rocky Hardison of Beaufort, N.C., and his boat, Wolverine, reeled in the massive fish in Ocean City, Md.
Angler Gary Fletcher caught the Blue Marlin, which, according to the Press of Atlantic City, was so long that its tail was hanging out one of the boat’s doorways.
The marlin measured 135 inches, longer than any Blue Marlin caught in the MidAtlantic tournament’s 30-year history, the Press of Atlantic City report said.
The tournament’s previous record was set in 2014 by Wade Lober, who caught an 847-pound fish aboard his boat Why Not.
